H.I.V.E.

H.I.V.E., The Higher Institute of Villainous Education by Mark Walden is about a boy named Otto. He has always been a little different from  other kids, but never really noticed because he was too busy making his orphanage a better place. One day, he wakes up in a helicopter flying to a secret island. He learns that because of his potential he has to live on this island and train to be a super-villain for six years. Well, Otto and a few of his friends DO NOT want to basically be held captive, so they start brewing up a plan that no one at The Institute will ever forget.

I think this book was a pretty good book overall. It was very action-packed and suspenseful. I liked how there were a lot of twists and turns. I didn’t like how there wasn’t any humor at all – no comic relief. Also, the whole plot was a bit confusing, so it is a book that you have to think about a bit more than most. This book would probably appeal to boys more than girls, and is on a 6th-8th grade reading level.
