The Hiding Place

hiding placeThe Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom is about a family living in Holland during World War II. They are a strong Christian family, and live in fear of the Nazis. One day, they learn that a family member is working for the Underground. The Underground was how Jewish people were hidden from the Nazis to stay safe. The Ten Boom family decides that they want to help the Jewish people, and start hiding Jews. This ends up being harder than they had first thought, but they trust God the entire way through, even when things don’t go their way.

This book is completely AMAZING. It is the best nonfiction book I have ever read. Usually nonfiction books are a bit boring, but this book was action-packed and suspenseful. The Hiding Place was assigned for my class to read in my Literature class, and it was so hard to only read a few chapters very week! This book was also very deep, and shows how God uses people to carry out his plan. This book is perfect for anyone in 7th to 9th grade. I wouldn’t recommend kids younger than 6th grade to read this book because it is such an intense book.

  1. I still love this one, Audrey. I remember getting in trouble in seventh grade for reading it science class! What courage Corey and her family had against the Nazis. I admire the Danes and the Dutch for the overwhelming way their populations stood up for what was right.
